Cartooning the Head and Figure

Young cartoonists: here is a good book to study from, Cartooning the Head and Figure by Jack Hamm.  It has a lot of good ideas for construction drawing and charts of noses and eyes, etc. if you feel like you've been drawing the same thing over and over.
Look for them cheap on Amazon.  Here's a study I did:
Never stop studying.

Come To the Party

My LA Weekly issue is coming out January 1st, along with my Kickstarter for The Circus, and to celebrate both I am having a New Years Eve bash.  The virtuoso himself, Milton Knight has agreed to play DJ and dazzle us with his musical rarities.

I'm trying to get a little money together to spend on goodies for people, so I'm selling this party guest series for $40 each.
If you are in the Los Angeles area, each one is good for an invitation for you and one guest.

So if you want a little art in your life, and to help out a good cause, now is your chance!

Animation Art from Bakshi's LDCI Available To Take Home

Original animation art from Ralph Bakshi's Last Days of Coney Island

Bring some REAL ART home and hang it on your wall.

I'm not saying the film will DEFINITELY win an Academy Award... but won't you kick yourself if it does and you don't take advantage?

See how the scene was put together:

Original character sketches available as well

Art isn't gadgets... art increases in value... my career is taking off... my art is going to go up in value... a wise person appreciates art... a good investor knows when to buy...

Plus the film is awesome, so why not?

Will This Ever Be Finished?

The Circus (First Half) from Elana Pritchard on Vimeo.

Not without some kind of funding.

I did the first half on a bamboo tablet, but it's frustrating and takes twice as long as a Cintiq would.  I need some decent equipment, not to mention money to live on.  Anyone who animates knows how time consuming full, finished animation can be.
