String Theory

HOW TO TURN STRING INTO A LIGHT

What you will need:

First, you take your stringholder and you lovingly fill it full of glue:

Then you blow up a balloon and suspend it from your ceiling (be sure to put newspaper down!)

Next, gently wrap the string around it (warning, your string will get tangled!)
Make sure you leave a hole in the bottom big enough for your light fixture (no matter how I tried to word this it sounds dirty).

Then you wait for it to dry and try not to bump into it.  If you like you can stare at it as you go to bed and think about how it looks like a planet.

After it's dry, pop the balloon

Surprise!  Your balloon will make weird crinkly sounds from the dried glue repositioning itself.

It goes on for quite a while

Now, add your fixture and presto!  A brand new light!

More Watercolor

Actual art supplies are great.  Sure you run the risk of making a mistake, but in the end you have something tangible that you can hold in your hand.  I'm infinitely jealous of the folks who got to work on paper all the time at one point.  You must have really felt connected with whatever you were working on in a completely different way.  In this case, the colors started out bright to begin with , but my scanner did kind of garify them a bit.  I'm still figuring everything out.

Here is the pencil sketch:

I also got this mysterious item in the mail today:

A packing and shipping catalog? Addressed to this person:

Does Anyone Want A Free Drawing?

I was tidying up today and realized that I have a good number of drawings that I don't want to just throw away, but at the same time don't necessarily need cluttering up my workspace.  So if you would like me to send you a drawing or two in the mail (love the mail), send your address to elanarpritchard@gmail.com.

best,
Elana

For a study I took George Liquor drawings and put them together in Toon Boom.  Then I broke them down to their basic construction...
